Join My Group

I am actively looking for talented students with a passion for computer vision and/or pattern recognition. My research group includes mainly PhD and master students, with some undergraduate students. It is a close and friendly research group. Group members are very encouraged for sharing, interaction, deliberation, independence and exploration. 

You are cordially welcome to join this wonderful group, especially for the ones pursuing a PhD degree.

Please inform me first by
filling out this Google form, and then apply via the
FJU Admission for International Student. Students with the foundation in computer science, electrical engineering and/or applied mathematics are highly encouraged. Admission decisions are made by a committee with the faculty from many departments. Your best chance of me seeing your application is to (a) mention my name in your research statement and (b) fill out the google form with your background and interests. 

The papers listed on my home page cover some of my recent work. However, my interests go well beyond those papers. Recent years I am specifically looking for students with the following interests and/or background:
  • deep learning: novel neural architecture, neuromorphic computing, deep reinforcement learning, GPU acceleration for deep learning
  • computer vision: image segmentation, computer vision for mobile phones, 3D shape acquisition, object detection and  tracking, machine learning for computer vision, physics-based vision, motion capture, computational photography, and applications for medical imaging
  • pattern recognition: face recognition and biometrics, pedestrian detection, person re-identification, video surveillance, optical character recognition, and applications for medical diagnosis
  • artificial intelligence: genetic algorithms, evolutionary computing, chatbot, intelligent IoT with computer vision
Prior research experience in these subjects is very welcome, but not necessary. What is necessary is the enthusiasm to learn devotely; an ability to learn quickly; and most importantly a humble attitude to learn hardly.

Students of PhD program is funded at least with partial scholarship and possibly with full scholarship. Master program is still possible to get scholarship.  Details of the scholarship can be touched by the scholarship page in FJU Admission for International Student.
